Africans have it in their power to stop Wal-Mart dead in its tracks, by simply refusing to participate. I seem to recall McDonalds packing up and leaving the shores of T'n'T because Trinis weren't to enamoured of sawdust burgers. I also know of several neighborhoods in the U.S.A. that have successfully campaigned to stop the spread of Wal-Mart to their communities. It can be done all that's required is the will.
