Rastafari Speaks

Ras Historian Is Worthy Of Some Tribute

i think that Ras Historian and the members of the United Vendors Association, were very helpful in putting into practice the teachings of Marcus Garvey as it relates to organizations and governmental administration. First of all he established the Rastafari Movement Association with its Headquarters along Laws street very close to the corner of church street, and there he concentrated on collecting and distributing conscious liberation information, through The Rasta Voice Magazine for many years, among other progressive actions which were taken. That place was a kind of Rastfari people's center where Rastafari people would visit from time to time, to get their Rasta Voice and to have discussions about the state of the black Race.

As a result of these kinds of reasoning with self determination, the seeds of the Umited Vendors Association was planted, and grow up and multiplied and bear good fruits. There are so many people in the Island of Jamaica, who are doing much better than they used to do in the distant past, who have the officers and members of the United Vendors Association to thank for defending them, and protecting them from the big marchants, who were very angry that they were selling on the side walks in front of their stores.

There were some other people who were also helpful in the organization like Iyaugta Marie, Sister Brenda, Sister Sheryl, Ras Cover, brother George Hamilton, brother Leroy and so many others who's names cannot be mentioned at this time, but they were all helpful in their own big and small ways, in order to keep the United Vendors Association alive as long as it continued, and was able to speak for and agitated for the rights of its members.

It would be a very good and respectful thing, if some of those people who were involved in the organization, and knew Ras Historian good enough, and knew of his great works which he did for his people, would write a few lines on his behalf, paying Tribute to him for his great liberation work which he did on behalf of African people everywhere.

What is very disgraceful, and cannot go unnoticed, is that it seems like some black people have no respect for their brothers and sisters, who made the sacrifice to become African liberators, by standing up for the rights of African people everywhere. When a patriot like Ras Historian can be chased away from 69 church street, where he and other Rastafari people have assembled for so many years, and in addition they killed his son and shot up other liberators who were present, it is very clear that our black race is in a very disgraceful state. And I am sure that this is taking place in other parts of the world including the Caribbean. It is a very disgraceful state of affairs and needs to be corrected. May Ras Historian and his liberation works long be remembered, and be used as examp-les for the following generation. Take the best care of yourselves and your people.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self determination to African people everywhere.
ONE BLACK HEART ONE BLACK LOVE.
Baba Ras Marcus
