Obviously under colonization by europeans, Maori lost their original genetic stock. This is no different than how many Afrikans born in America have such a high percentive of European genes.
Culture wise, Maori have similarities with Afrikan people. They practice scarification/tattoing and they beat the drum to communicate as well as represent resistance to colonial rule.
Also, most of the Maori youths tend to gravitate toward the Afrikan artforms like hip hop, reggae and drawn artwork.
To anyone with some deductive reasoning abilities, the connection is apparent.
