Thank you for your encouragement Noble Ras Heru, I just think that some of these historic facts should be posted, to remind Rastafari people and Africans in general, that very serious crimes were committed against African people everywhere. I do think that we should from time to time, cultivate a high standard of reasoning, so that spirits can sharpen spirits and minds sharpen minds.
As a result of the brutish, cruel and disrespectful manner, in which African people who were enslaved on the plantations were treated, African people were forced, to increase their undergroud resistance, to the slave masters and their system, and these activities, resulted in low production, in every aspect of the slavery production system. The slavery system became less important than it used to be, since they were losing more money than they were making, and since money making was the reason, for them to establish, and to try to keep the slavery system running.
By the year 1830 or before, there were much discussions, back and forth about whether they should abolish slavery or not, these discussions involved those who called themselves abolitionist, politicians, slave masters, and members of the various Parliaments and many others. But regardless of where they went with the arguments, they were faced with the economic and other social factors, and since they were facing bankruptcy, then the main topic of their discussion was Emancipation, for those who were enslaved.
They were out of order enough, to suggest that African people who were enslaved, were not ready for freedom, and therefore, emancipation should be a gradual action, and as a result, they established what they choosed to call, the Apprentice system. So, after all the back and forth, slavery was polished in the British colonies, under what was called the Apprentice system in the year 1833, and the plan was to go on until 1840, which would have fulfilled the gradual abolishion
which they planned, but things were getting so bad, that by 1838 on the ist day of August, they declared that slavery was abolished in the British colonies, but we all know that it was only polished, and the very clear evidence for that, is that African people are still scattered in the western hemisphere, which are indeed the lands of captivity. Slavery was abolished in Sweden in 1846, in France in 1848, in HOlland in 1863, in Puerto Rico in 1873, and in Cuba in 1880. Indeed we have to review the past, just to see where we are coming from, and to look at how we had to struggle to reach where we are today, and to make plans to deal with the present as well as our future. The journey of life continues. Take the best care of your selves and your people.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self
determination to African people everywhere.
ONE BLACK HEART ONE BLACK LOVE.
Baba Ras Marcus.
