If I have a problem which I am not able to solve, I do have a internal reasoning about it with the internal powers which sustains me, and I ask for help internally, without speaking out aloud, although at times I speak out aloud in my solitude and ask the Creator for what I need, and then I rest myself, and watch for the manifestations as time or the days go by.

If I do not get what I asked for, I remain respectful to the Creator for maybe he thinks that it was not the best idea, for me to have my request at that time, and yet some times when I forget about it, suddenly it is manifested through the powers of this great Universe. So, yes, prayer is good, Take the best care of yoursaelf and your people.
