Greetings Gman
The I said:
"... as a general rule, you could say that the darker skinned you are, the more hell you gone tend to catch, all other things being equal. memba I said a general rule, not saying it applies in every case."
This is the issue I had the first time I saw the topic of colorism surface on the board a while ago.
By the way that the reasonings were presented, I got the impression that ones were saying that ALL light skin people benefitted from being light oppossed to darker skinned people. I for one know many light skin Idren who has suffered just the same as darker skinned Idren. The hood doesnt care if you are light skinned or darker skinned. Most people there are scrambling to get food on the table and bills paid and dont have time to focus on someone being light skin, who are trying to do the same thing. I also had a problem when ones stated or implied that NO light skinned people are not able to indentify with the black struggle, and are not able to disseminate that perpective successfully...as in a position of leadership. There have been lighter skinned people who have been good leaders and who didnt bow for Babylon nor accept there priviledges for being of lighter hue.
I would agree as a rule, that colorism is valid. But there are exceptions. But as you stated, InI rather deal with the rule than the exception. InI just have to allow for the exceptions if the person is genuinely down for the black struggle. Cause not all light skinned people are products of mixed unions...not directly or willingly anyway.
Who feels it knows it. I say that if the cap dont fit...then you must acquit..lol. But seriously, if one knows that they have not directly benefitted any more in Babylon for being light, then dont get agitated when the topic is brought up.
Peace and Love my bredren
