In Response To: His Majesty Shook The Hearts Of Earthly Rulers (ras marcus)
As I told Jakes and his delegation when they visited South Florida seeking support that they are putting the horse before the cart because the Rastafari Movement is in on position to put themselves on display especially when we have not lived up to our own creed.
We have not fed the hungry, clothe the naked, nurished the sick, protected the aged or cared very much for the infants. Many of us cannot even do these things for ourselves.
We have paid little attention to the teachings of H.I.M. or the practical examples of the Garvey Movement. We need to be focusing on our financial, social, economic, industrial and sustainable developmental needs. Where are our institutions? what are we leaving for the future generations? Please not more religious rhetoric. I think we have had enough of that. We must learn to balance the spiritual with the physical realities. We fail to practice organization even though H.I.M. told us to do so 46 years ago.
Since the days of the first visits by Ras Planno and company to Africa we have been spinning our wheels. It was clear that the Rasses then did not have the capabilities to take advantage of the situation then. Yes there was sabotage but the fact still remains. Even today Shashamane cannot be an example although I applaude some Rasses for trying and working. The fact still remains that out of 500 hectares how much is left today?
So while some of us may feel good in the house of Babylon, the practical reality is that the Movement needs overhauling because a living people do not put themselves on exhibit to be "discovered" by others as if they are a relic of the past. They are too busy living and working. They let their works speak for them.
