If I may reason upon this. First i must get clarification on the question.
I think that the received wisdom he speaks of is spoken, schooled or rumored information that one has not seen, heard or felt the causes and effects of.Just as the top student from medical school MUST still engage in real-world, hands-on guided/supervised practice before being allowed to operate independently...he/she must gain EXPERIENCE.
So Ras Levi was refering to ones who are reasoning by way of something they read or was told (received), ONLY.
I think I understand the word/play because even experience must be "received" by the heart/mind/spirit. So I think I see your point from that perspective, but I hope I correctly explained the difference.
Also, after reading your words again, i see that you mentioned "interpretation". And so how would one interpret truth except through what has already been established as the filter.
I feel that is the challenge...because we have been instilled and indoctrinated with various filtering systems.
To i, the basis has to be from the observation of Nature...the only pure (seen) manifestation from the Creator's hands. We will see that within the seen manifestation are universal unseen characteristics as well.
We do not "see" it but we can prove that "gravity" exists. We do not "see" sexual attraction, but we can prove that the consumation of sexual union is what pro-creates life. So we must keep our filters clean and attention to the lessons/observations/experiences within Nature.
