Prince Buddrigde, you know whats funny (well it might not be funny, oh well), being that most of us know that most "prophets of old" had 2 teachings, exoteric ("outer" or for the masses) and eso-teric (the ones who can hear the "inner" teachings). The sufis say that while Muhammed was in the kaaba stone where he would be in a "trance", getting the inner symbolisms and light of the qur'an from Allah, he would recite them to Ali (who happens to be muhammeds son by adoption), and Ali is the one who is considered the father of "esoteric islam". Thus, ofcourse the muslims, who dont understand the Incient way of the sufis, will want to call the sufis "infadels", heck, its might as well they shouldve stoned muhammed for also paying homeage to "Allahs daughters", which they twisted in the Qur'an and made excuses about it. One time they killed a sufi longtime ago, because while he came out of meditation, he was in ecstacy and cried "Lal al-haqq" or "i AM Allah (God).....the sad thing is that the orthodox ones stoned and killed him....this is a known story to the sufi world.
i will aslo like to add, that the sufis are a continuation, of the order of Essenes or Nazarites, based on the practices and similarities. Thankhs Prince for the food. Salaams
