A Open Letter To The Ethiopian Government

Dear Ambassador,

let me first hope that you and your family and your entire African Village are in the best of health. I am writing you this letter, because there is great concern being expressed, in the Rastafari People Community world wide, concerning that 500 acre land grant, which was given by Haile Sellasse I to African people in the Western World, many decades ago. We are aware that after the first revolution which took place under Mengistu, that most of that land was taken over, by Ethiopians who were born in Ethiopia, and that just a very small portion of that same land, is being inhabited by Rastafari people, from the western hemisphere past and present. We do think that it is a great violation of the diginty of African people, to deprive their African brothers and sisters, of such a small piece of land, which was granted, to Africans in the Diaspora, as a precedent to welcoming us back home, after we were taken away from Mama Africa, under brutal and slave trading circumstances, enslaved in the Western Hemisphere, for more than five hundred years, and have been abondoned in the Western World, for more than five hundred years.

We are also aware, of a recent situation, where your Government is in the act of carrying out some development at Shashamane in Ethiopia, which involved building a new road, and this road is intended to be cut, right through a Rastafari people female quarters, which have been under construction for about two or three years, we have been active in trying to finance this building to its completion. We are not against developments in Africa, considering that we are African people living abroad, but what we would like to know is, will the Government give our Rastafari people, another piece of land to rebuild this female quarters, and will your Government, assess the cost of the structure which is now under construction, and pay the cost of reconstruction, when the road which shall be cut through this female quarters is manifested?

We also think that since the original land grant of 500 acres to African people in the Diaspora, was violated, by Ethiopians who were born there in Ethiopia, it would be a reasonable community correction, if your Government, would consider, Granting another 500 acres, to our people in the African Diaspora, and make sure, that there is no violation on this occasion. I am very willing to have intelligent reasoning on this matter, and will definately appreciate a response from your good office.
I send many oceans of blessings and self determination to African people everywhere.
ONE BLACK HEART ONE BLACK LOVE
Baba Ras Marcus
