You said: "There would seem to be a view of truth as 'facts', verifiable aspects of the nature of the universe, such as those you have nominated, and another of truth as being a transendant underlying principle that may well unify or be the foundation of these facts."

* Facts ARE truths and 'transcendent' underlying principles are also truths.

Facts are actuality and reality so facts are truths. E.g. Africans were taken from Africa and enslaved. These are FACTS and the TRUTH. If something was ACCEPTED as a fact and is proven to be wrong, then it was not a fact to start with.

Fact: noun - A thing that is indisputably the case. The truth about events as opposed to interpretation.

-- Concise Oxford English Dictionary

~~~~~
I deliberately presented two absolute truths (based on my experiences). "All humans share a common African ancestry", is of an earthly nature. "All of life shares a common universal origin", is universal. They are both related, and I also gave them in the order that I discovered them. The first truth led to an experience that demonstrated the second truth. Both are absolutely true.
I was not initially pleased to realize that we all share a common ancestry because I did not like the idea that some people were actually related to I in some way, given their conduct. I overcame not being pleased after the magnitude of the second experience of our universal origin.
If someone says that people cannot "fathom" absolute truth, then they are also saying that they do not and cannot know themselves, as their self is also made up of absolute truths. That is their understanding and they are entitled to that. Their position is not true for us all.
Based on how I discovered our common universal origin, it may be a bit difficult to prove because it means a person will have to make a similar journey through the inner universe (like myself) to get it directly. But people can do it. I know several people who have made similar journeys. They go through the inner universe to different distances and they do share truths discovered from their crystallized experiences.
Generally speaking, it is useless to make statements and claim that they are absolute truths, as people would not be able to do much with that. Simply "believing" them will not help anyone. Usually I just share what I know and leave people to deal with the reasonings. If they lift enough to fly, then they can discover universal absolutes for themselves.
