In Response To: Re: Brown Paper Bag Test (discipleofthenile)

It was unity under the white banner (irish, british, french, german...) in America that allowed their economy to build to the heights it is today (after the great depression). They stopped fighting each other on the basis of their nationality or tone, but simply on the basis of 'white' vs. 'non-white'...that gave them a pretty big team. Sad that we're breaking our team up into smaller groups...

'blue-black' 'yellow-black' 'light-brown' 'chestnut-black' 'red-black'...these are all terms that i've heard used to refer to some other BLACK people, by other BLACK people.

Marcus sought black unity, HIM sought black unity, MLK sought black unity, Nkrumah sought black unity...

why are we here fighting each other over level of 'blackness' based on the most specious grounds of skin tone?

It's already been stated that 'blackness' is more than just skin, and in these times, it's even less about skin than it is about mindset. I have many african 'black' friends that are far more white in mentality than some of my other black friends with mixed ancestry...who would you more want around you?

Love And Peace,
Jah Melku
