True statements. I also see many people in my culture that call themselves believers in God staying away from biblical teachings and using "other sources" that are more fallible than biblical teachings. The bible used to be taken as revelation from God with the understanding that men wrote it so of course there were some incosistencies. But now people believe it is a conspiracy against everyone and their mama or a code that only a priest could understand.
The bible is the first WRITTEN resource that was mass published. That is what it is there for to study as a resource. Not to criticize and discard. Yes there are other good sources but (correct me if I am wrong) it is hard to find something WRITTEN in any language that predates biblical books.
Most that I find make references to a writing that predates an old testament writing but where are they? I am sure many people want to read them. Most of what is written today is a paraphrase of older writings therefore they become more fallible.
I know many here will disagree to this next statement but here goes: From what I have found the only English (not Aramahic or Greek or even Hebrew) version that has not been revised over and over is the King James Version, and the only spanish version is the Reina Valera 1860.
Anyone please respond if you can point me to depandable WRITINGS that predate old testament writings in English or Spanish translations.
