.....I know of a conference type event that was held in England, July of this year, where a black academic speaker was not invited, as the organiser was "saving him" for Black History Month.
Is that not a patronising, racist use of a month that is supposed to be for our upliftment? Why couldn't the academic be invited to both events? Answer: because 'they' don't want to spend too much money on us.
I know Black History, Present and Future needs to be celebrated, taught, acknowledged, etc, but let us not be told when we can do it!
If Black History Months are to continue, then it should only the public face highlighting what we do every day of our lives, all year around. That is how I personally see things anyway.
