I am not willing to engage in a discussion about WHO or WHAT is a 'white Rasfarian.' Personally I believe the terms "Rastafari," "Rastafarians," and "Rastas" describes the collective whole of the early founders of the movement - black persons. White people are free to believe what they want. They are free to disagree with me, and to make up their own mind.
I ask the question that initiates the thread because it is a deep concern to me... The Rastafari movement has been developed by black people for the primary concern to conscientize about the distortions of African history, and for the resistance, liberation, and redemption of black people of African origin. And I see the whites 'Africanists' have miserably failed to develop such movements inside the white community to make a major progress to replace White Supremacy (racism) with a system of JUSTICE. I feel white people who believe in Rastafari, that is in the beauty of black people’s African heritage and/or limitless love and flower power just don’t see the need to constantly counter White Supremacy (racism) inside the white community. They are not willing to move into the white community and start organizing to stop the SYSTEM of Supremacy (racism). Can anybody name a white 'Rasta' who has lead a rebellion, who has been murdered, or has been arrested because he/she went around white people to shake the psyche of white people and/or supremacists (racists)?
I think about white 'Rastas' every single day, and I say, "Now these are white people full of love for a black God, Africa, and the black race. They are desperately needed to stop the system of White Supremacy (racism)." For in the current cultural, social, and political system of White Supremacy (injustice) black people cannot move inside the white community and articulate their positions to white people who question if all black people are equal to whites since every time we start something to conscientize the white community, white people are eliminating what we are doing and articulating. Whites see us as 'reverse racists.' They sees us working against them, they are speaking for their own guilt. Thus it is logical for a white 'Rasta' person to go talk to other white people and/or supremacists (racists) who are inside the white community. The white 'Rastas' must face the real issues today, but most don’t know, or don’t want to work.
Today we black people do not have the power (with war) in our hands to change the minds of white people in order to stop the system of White Supremacy (racism). The only power we have today is the power to say, " WE HAVE ENOUGH! " White 'Rastas' need to understand that. It is the time they start doing something around white people showing them to realize what White Supremacy (racism) is and make sure other white people are not practicing White Supremacy (racism), which is an unjust system whereby a person is mistreated on the basis of color by the most powerful people on this planet today - white peoples. Black Rastafarians or black people know already what it means to be a VICTIM of white people in a system where white people are the people doing the activity known as White Supremacy (racism). Therefore white 'Rastafarians' do not need to retreat inside the black community. They must conduct their limitless love and flower power inside the white community.
I get this all the time. Usually when me, or another black person, asks a white 'Rasta' person if he/she is white the white person has no idea of he/she is white… Don’t be evasive. Are you a white person YES or NO? If the answer is 'YES,' and if you are white 'Rasta' person constantly making make sure other white people are not practicing White Supremacy (racism). I am interested to know:
1. How can you recognize a white supremacist (racist)?
2. How exactly do you make sure he or she is not practicing White Supremacy (racism)?
3. What exactly can white 'Rastas' do, that nobody else can do, to replace white Supremacy with a system of Justice?
I am not feeling very well right now that is why I am not being able to read and reply to all the responses made in this thread. I want to apologize that, and thank you for your messages and debates.
