In Response To: Re: First Kill the Language, Then the Culture (gman)

Greetings Gman,

good to hear (except the bit about the boring soap operas of course...)

I am a firm believer in the power of languages to reinvigorate culture, and it sounds like the welsh have managed to pull off a bit of a success story, despite having had the stuffing knocked out of them by their next door neighbours for centuries.

These sorts of 'fights' tend to be of the long haul variety..

Quite a few indigenous communities here are desperately trying to keep their language being taught in schools, despite a pretty heavy assimilation (read everyone must speak english so they can be 'successful) push from the evil conservatives in power here.

love and life
paul
