In Response To: Re: Faith and belief is the same thing, (Ras Marcus)

beloved elder,

this is my own experience.
I can only give you this information.
whether you choose to accept it, well, that is a choice you must make.
in one of my earlier post in this thread,
I spoke very specifically of my own experience
in what we know as the " christian " faith.

anything I give to you, or anyone else,
is based on my own personal experience.

this is a matter of your unbelief
in the bible as being the written
word of God,
holy, without fault,
written by men filled and inspired by
the spirit of JAH.

I believe that what is written in the
pages of the bible is all of the above.

the word of God,
thru man,
given unto man.

for instance,
you probably don't believe
that God literally wrote the ten commandments on
tablets of stone and
gave them to moses
to give to the children of israel.

I, on the other hand do.

the resurrection of Jesus,
and so on and so forth.

I listened to the I's reasoning
on the rastafari elders CD,
and based on that reasoning,
you seem to be changing your mind
on certain ideas,
and beliefs
which are central to
the rastafarian faith,
and movement.

I overstand completely the
use of certain words and phrases,
and oven the context in which
ones within rastafari
use them.

certain words are viewed as
having a negative conotation with
them,
such as understand,
back ( or backward ),
believe...
all of these things I am aware of.
however, you cannot change the
true meaning of a word.
you may interpret it as you wish,
but it will
always boil down to
belief, or
unbelief.

you asked once before whether I
knew certain things to be true,
and I answered you elaborately concerning this,
and the things spoken of in the bible.

I KNOW without any doubt that
Jesus Christ is real,
is alive and seated at the right hand of God,
and will return for those who seek him.

how do I know this well let's look at two things
just as reference.

I would not be a christian ( disciple of Christ )
if I did not use scripture for evidence and backing,
for Christ himself always referred to
scripture ( it is written ).

Luke 3:16
John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

Luke 11:11-13
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

John 7:37-39
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Acts 1:4-5
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Acts 2:1-4
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

these things which are spoken of
in the scriptures, I have both witnessed
happen to others,
and have experienced it for myself ( the baptism of the holy spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues ),
just as it is written.

again, I can only tell you of these things.
it is your choice whether you accept it
as truth, or not.

may I leave you with another scripture:

John 20:24-31
But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. 26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. 30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
