Altercations with these agencies do not only come about by wife beatings as you described; but for any reason of lifestyle. It could be not taking certain medicines or vaccines for your children, or the usages of herbs and the way in which the children are disciplined etcetera. One cannot blame or place ultimate responsibility on the victims of an imposed condition and set parameters, that are controlled by the downpressors.
We must overstand that during slavery, the slaves got no menetary compensation; as a genaral rule. Hence, sex as a commodity on the plantation was of high value; which could and did earn favours
and gratuities for the woman full filling such a role. This implies power on the part of those who could secure favours. During the time of share cropping, the exslave would still owe the landowner; after paying for the provisions he had credited. In this way, he would be perpetually tied to the land. His wife would have to supplement the income by doing work for mister charley. At this juncture, the light skin one who are the product of rape; are being educated at universities and professional schools of the newly founded black colleges. A lot of these individuals were lynched for their land, due to the resources it contained, or for behaving too uppity.Due to the first and second world wars and the shortage of labor in mainly the northern industrial cities, many share croppers migrated to the cities for industrial jobs. They became unemployed after the wars, to subsist on heroin, alchohol and other nefarious activities such as pimping and the night club scene. The problem did'nt just start yesterday nor did the effects show up today for the first time. Blacks have been systematically locked out of labor unions. The union would tell you to get a job and you can join. While the employer would instruct you to join the union and you will be employed. When you do get the job, you have to go through a lot of racist crap with your coworkers; tempting you to quit or get fired, before being the first to get laid off.

Two incedents concerning the aforesaid come to mind. A ras residing in Florida was constantly being harassed on his job by his white coworkers. They put poison in his food; which caused him to vomit and almost died. He knew it was poison because he went to the doctor. His herbal remedies saved him from dying, The next day, he went to work with his shotgun and blew their heads off. Ones might also not know that MLK at the time of his death, was in Memphis due to the fact that the garbage men who were black had been trying to form a union. Their wages were so low that they still had to rely on the dole to make ends meet. The riots started when a black garbage man was denied shelter from the rain in the santitation office. He took shelter in the compacter, where he fell asleep and was crushed to death; when it was turned on by a white coworker. The point is this low self esteem and lack of employment and under employment with the economic squeeze and manipulation of the Black man and woman did'nt commence yasterday. So low self esteem did'nt start because more black women have recently acquired more earning power. The public schools as one of many institutions, certainly took care of that.
The next thing, it takes two to do the Tango. If the woman over the generations is favored due to what's between her legs, and puts down her man as a sorry ass nig nog( a term used for a whipped slave) because she has a job with massah and he does'nt; then according to you it is just a male problem. One can substitute the words qouted with light skin and just say it's a problem only for dark skin ones and not the fault of light skin ones. I hope this is not what you mean; knowing that when ones are manipulated with such power play and given a slight edge; they become egotistical and obnoxious to the ones around them.
Last but not least, I know a Ras who is very wealthy out of making roots tonic. His wife is native born in the US. She dissed him during the period of research, development and experimentation and they eventually became seperated. She not wanting to be a part of the Rasta culture and foolishness. But now that success has come his way, she is back; enjoying the fruits of his labor. Notice it's not their labour.
N.B. Most blacks in the cities or in the North stopped doing domestic work back in the sixties; and the better off professional and educated blacks hardly left the South. The aforementioned jobs had begun to be filled by people mainly from the English speaking Caribbean.
