I did not want to contribute to this one, because I feel there are more important issues to debate.
I do not like your tone, this generalisation of Black American women as an "excuse" for Black Rastafarian men going out with white women. Why does it have to be their fault. I don't know that many, but I refuse to believe that all Black American women- whatever their shade- are of one type.
Turning to the topic- I think that the problem stems from the fact that many Houses have taught against interracial relations. I remember the Nyahbinghi Guidlines had a specific prohibition against "intimate relations against whites". Yet, despite these injunctions, Black Rastafarian men continue to go for vanilla.
This is a fact, especially in the West, where most people are white. We should refrain from generalisation and characterisation, when a Black man takes a white woman, it does not neccessarily mean that he is rejecting a Black woman. Perhaps I am the only one with such a mindset, but when I am looking for a woman, I look for a woman, period. That she happens to have more of the mulberry than the next is incidental. I come from a country where whites are such a small minority, chances of getting in to an interracial relationship are less than zero.
Love between a man and a woman is something special, and it would be a shame to piss in it in the name of militant Black nationalism.
Please note that I am talking about healthy relationships, not those sordid encounters between dreadlocked gogolos and rich white chicks seeking to fulfil their fantasies about the Congo-cock. That is not my scene. That this sort of thing is happening is outside what Rastafafari is concerned with. We would do better to mind our own, and consolidate our families.
