Did you know that many Rastafarians got to meet the Emperor and were more convinced than ever that He is indeed the Christ.
About 6 years ago, I interviewed a War Veteran from my country, he was a young man when he was part of a delagation that met the Emperor in Addis Ababa. He saw the Emperor, keeping a respectful distance, but he felt there was something about him, a mixture of humility yet exaltedness at the same time. He was also intrigued by the fact that this was a Black King with Biblical titles, he had always assumed that the world of the Bible had been brought to Africa by the whites and they were our only link with it.
He looked at me, and said, " I don't have locks or anything, but when I first heard about you Rastafarians, I realised that I cannot go against your beliefs. That stuff about Haile Selassie is not nonsense...."
