In Response To: Re: Rasta use of the bible (blessedflames)

I think you and I disagree here blessedflames. The role Selassie plays has been debated since back in the day. Some hail him as God the Father, Some hail him as Yeshua reincarnated, some hail him as an Icon of Christ (twelve tribes for instance), Some just hail him as a great figurehead/leader of blacks. I personally believe no man can be God. All are of God, some manifest God more than others. We all anthropomorphize God in some way or the other, and so I see God through my black eyes reflected by HIM. Yet I sight HIM as a man, with human flaws and failings. He is still my King, but don't try to tell me I'm not Rasta because I don't sight HIM as the Almighty Being. I make no attempt to separate Selassie from Rastafari, hence we wouldn't be Rastafari, but let's not try to claim that Selassie wanted us to base our lives solely on the bible, as he himself told us to also learn the secular knowledge. This is also what Yeshua taught, it's the understanding of the Word that's important, not the words themselves or where they come from.

Peace And Love,
Jah Melku
