If you were looking for the full story, you would be quick to point out the circumstances around Africans selling other Africans. i.e. if you did not sell slaves and get guns in return, someone else would, and would come and enslave you. The Europeans brought the slaves=guns equation into the mix. It does not absolve those chiefs and kings and queens who sold people into bondage, but it does point very clearly to the fact that the *VAST* majority of the blame is to be placed firmly at the door of the Europeans.
All the positive and negative seeds in humans' minds have been there from the beginning, but it was the European cultures of the past couple thousand years or so, which suppressed the positive seeds the most, and nurtured the negative seeds the most.
