I think it's the other way round... Africans have been around much longer than Khemet.
I think both you (BK) and Yan have a point on this thread. Yan is right in saying that the essence of the teachings is more important than the specifics of the outward form (which I think was Yeshua's point when he said he came to "fulfill the law" while at the same time flouting explicit statutes of that law, such as stopping the adulteress' stoning). But also B.K. is right in saying the form is also important, especially since she grew up in such a tradition so presumably knows whereof she speaks, and also because we Africans in the west have been forcibly ripped from our ancestral traditions and need to lay claim to them once again.
Sometimes though I would be a little suspicious of self-proclaimed promoters of African spiritual traditions in the west, because they are preaching to people who have very little knowledge of the subject, and hence can feel free to add/subtract/embellish/invent anything for their own purposes.
