First in response to Blackness: You have no choice as far as "whites" being a part of Rastafari. Granted, Rastafari began as a "black" movement encompassing repatriation and reparation. By all means these issues should be at the top of the list, BUT it has since grown far beyond this. Rastafari is now a movement against the shitstem that has downpressed all of society(blacks and whites alike) For IHI to put it in the simplest terms, Rastafari is to walk in the LIGHT of the FATHER JAH RASTAFRI, it matters not what the colour of your skin. As Ayinde says, it is to get back to the most basic human development. Just Man and JAH. IHI do not deal with these "man made" regulations. Why can IHI not be Rasta because IHI am "white"? Who says? Man? Black man? Nah! IHI just am and that is ALL. JAH created man like flowers in a garden and it is with all of our different colours that we make the garden beautiful. It is issues/comments like those from "Blackness" that are currently giving Rasta a bad name. Unfortunately as long as Man continues to have the gift of individual thought, Rasta will continue to subject to these types of petty issues. And YES they are petty. "Whites" can hold their place in Rasta without Rasta losing its "original" purpose. No matter what the individual goals are of those who follow Rasta, the one common link is that we ALL are JAH children and MUST walk in his LIGHT! AND the closer to the LIGHT we walk, the more of a FIYAH WALK Rasta becomes. The more one lives in JAH LIGHT, the more other ones will try to FIGHT IHI DOWN! And that is ALL IHI have to sat about that!
