On Thursday the 1st of November, there were a large number of Rastafari people at the Baltimore Thurgood Marshal Airport, to welcome Rastafari people who are African Dignitaries, who were invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Rastafari people's exhibit, which was expected to take place, on Friday the 2nd of November, at the Smithsonian Institute of Natural History. The plane was expected to arrive at about 9.45 or there about, but there was a two hours delay, and so that just encourage those Elders who were there to reason and reflect about the whole situation, and the changing times and manifestations of today. By the time we were able to get all the Elders situated in the cars with there luggage at the Airport, it was about 2am, then we had to take them to their hotels to check in, into their rooms, and then take them to a Rastafari people's Village, so that we could reason, and that they be fed and give thanks for their safe journey to be able to experience the exhibit. My students who took me there were not able to take me home until 20 minutes to 5am on Friday Morning of the 2nd of November. I only had two hours sleep since I had to meet some one at 8am, and since the phone rang at 7am. After being active on my feet until about 1pm, I went home to get a small nap, but was awaken by 4pm, to return to Washington to bear witness of the exhibit, we were late for the start of the ceremony, the parking lot was full, and it was very difficult finding a parking space in Washington DC. When we finally got to the Rotunda where the ceremony was held, there were Dreadlocks Rastafari people everywhere, there was Red Gold and Green colors everywhere, some Rastafari people were wearing white, Bobo were there in large numbers, Rastafari wombman and their children and families in general, as well as many White people, they were all there and the house was full to capacity. There were so many cameras big and small, videoing and flashing it was really a very historic occasion. People were just walking around and greeting and hugging each other, while they talk and glorify the historic occasion, and then the Ethiopin National Anthem was sang to the playing of the Nyabinghi drummeras, that was so sweet and had a very good sound in the Rotunda. I ran into many people who I have not seen for years and as usual we hug and give the greetings. People were still walking around and talking about it until about 10.30 or there about. The Elders and Rastafari Dignitaries were taken back to the Rastafari Village for reasoning and sharing. I spent a few hours there and was taken home by 3am to get some sleep.
On Saturday the 3rd of November, we reached the Blackburne Center at 12noon and did not leave there until about 11pm, this again was well
attended, there were Rastafari people from various places, Atlanta, Florida, New York, the Caribbean and all over, it was just a great gathering of Rastafari people for this great family re-union event. I met one Empress, who I have not seen for 45 years, she was the only Empress in the mountain when the Iverstanding Tongue was revealed, and she was the first Empress, who was given the name Iyaughta and accepted it with pleasure more than 45 years ago. There were so many Ancient Elders with whom I had worked in the early days, with whom I was able to hug and talk to, about the rough days of trials and tribulations. I did not get to see the exhibit because I was so much involved with my people, but it is now open, and those who are interested can go and see it, those who are not interested, just let it be, without trying to tear it down.
There were also representatives from the Jamacan Government, and I was told, that the Jamican Government is interested, in also having the Rastafari Exhibit be exhibited in the Island of Jamaica. I were not able to attend the reception on Sunday, so, I really cannot tell you nothing about that. Speaking truthfully, it was a great gathering of Rastafari people, and indeed a great collective family gathering of Rastafari people from everywhere. A great Rastafari people Family reunion.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self determination to African people everywhere
ONE BLACK HEART ONE BLACK LOVE
Baba Ras Marcus.
