:::I think there were reasonings somewhere throughout this thread about genetic research and testing as one possible means to use in the case for reparations and repatriation, etc... Here is some related information that may or may not be useful below:::
Many governments have already sanctioned the use of genomic archetypes to help resolve conflicts & ancestral ownership claims, as well as being a legalized and legitimate technique for establishing individual identity.
However, genetic research applied to individuals can be extremely imprecise, regardless of it being sanctioned by govt. or not. Scientific
speculaton and misjudgement can also easily be used to politically disenfranchise people just as much as help them, depending on the situation.
One of many examples showing this imprecision is that a person with 1/16th Indigenous ancestry might have the marker while another with 15/16th Ingig. ancestry might not.
