Ethiopians keep the Sabbath, but go to church on Sunday.
While His Imperial Majesty would have ceased from transacting His Imperial duties, He would not have ceased to be Emperor on the day.
I think the reason no details are given is that it is assumed that as the Sabbath is one of the most ancient institutions, everyone would know about it and what to do or not do on it.
