Re: Is it YOU who hates self?

Honor,

There is much truth to your words, and, honestly they humble me.

One of the things that draws me to this site is my yearning to learn about my heritage, To overstand why it is I respect Rastafarians, to get some grasp of the world around me, and to learn a lot of things I cannot learn on my own. I have no one to teach me, so I come here to learn from the overstandings of others, and really and truly, thank you. I’ve leant a lot by reading the discussions and the articles here. It opened me up to much of what Rastafari is all about.
And Yes, I am battling with myself and trying to find out who I am. I’m at a crossroads where I need to choose a path, and I want it to be the right one. The color of my skin still bothers me a lot, but you are right, one thing I need to do is to first accept myself (blackness) and live upright with it. But first I need to learn.

Being bi-racial does come with a lot of baggage, (Being Black does, at least for me) and for a long time I had to fight seriously with self-hatred, insecurity, and just thinking I was horrid and rotten because of my skin and features, and being bi-racial there is never a place to 'fit in' because honestly, both White and Black people shun me, for reasons I still can't understand.
So I came here to try and make sense of it all. Or at least try. I wish this whole deal of Race would be over with, NOW!!!

But it won’t. And if you can’t beat them, join them.
Problem is, I hate joining into things I’m not truly apart of.

bless…
