Re: Levels of blame/guilt
In Response To: Re: Levels of blame/guilt ()

You have a long journey in front of you yet. But, I like the confidence with which you hop forward on one foot. Do not take that as an insult, what I am trying to say is, there are in your response, several things that give away the level of awareness from which you are currently speaking.

So, tell me, what is it that you think I am trying to say that I have not said? You implied, near the beginning of your response that I have some hidden motive. You are half-right, every thing I say is for two or more reasons, but, nothing is hidden. Where I am coming from is not something I am ashamed of and I am not concerned about the opinions of ones who have only seen out of rented eyes.

Why pretend not to know what I mean when I use the word "contraption"? You claim to be a Jamaican, who made you a Jamaican? Who named you? Do you believe that these were beings superior to yourself? Do you believe that they knew what was best for you when they named you Jamaican? Is that why you are so proud of the label?

It was your offended pride speaking when you asked what "the hell" I meant by "contraption". And it is because of the things you have pride in (the things you value), that I said you have a long way to go yet.

And I will answer your question : the day when Africa will be lost in your cherished dream of a 'melting-pot' will never arrive. We were here at the beginning and we will be here when this current insanity ends. We will be here as we were, as we are and as we will always be.

Other things you said, which were wound up with personal history, I will not comment on. I will address you alone. Leave grandmothers and great-grandmothers out of it.

Yes my friend, I don't care about your feelings on this matter. I have decided what MY opinion is and I am sticking with it. The rest is very simple, you may in time come to see things as I have and you may change your perspective, or you may not. I will strive to make the world that I want to live in and, at the end of it all, from where I am standing, points of view that are of no use to me are only something to be aware of, something to step over.

Take that as a good piece of advice, apply it to yourself and don't get so wound up.
