Re: Gods or Monsters?
In Response To: Gods or Monsters? ()

This is the way to do it. If one will examine a cultural phenomena, one must do it within the framework of the environment in which it is occuring. Not impose points of view or judgements based on the context of where one is.

Nothing that was said about albinos in Africa on this message board was news to me. I would never deny that albinos can be at the recieving end of serious abuse. But then, so are most Africans at the hands of the ruling elites.

I grew up under military dictatorships and I saw many killed casually, not just because of of the way they looked but because the killer was in uniform and could do as he pleased. This was a part of the reality where I lived but, it cannot be taken out of context. I was never on the side of the ones who killed casually but I overstand where they were coming from and I would never speak on them from a value system based on wastern thought.

There are some here who would speak on conditions in Africa with authority even though they have never stepped a foot on any part of the continent.

Albinos may have a hard time but, so do young girls, orphans, the disabled and conquered ethnic minorities.

As it is right now on this board, the whole albino issue was contrived, the 'concern' that led to selassilive and seshatasefekht taking up the fight for albino 'rights' was a concern based on convenience. They are using aspects from the lives of albinos in parts of Africa to serve thier own purpose.

The issues surrounding the lives of albinos in Africa have nothing to do with the origin of the 'white' species. It has nothing to do with colourism in amerikkka or the Caribbean, and it only has as much to do with events in Africa as do other issues surrounding the lives of every powerless group in Africa.

I say all this to show how far up the wrong tree some people are (i.e. those who would find a corelation between what is happening to albinos now and what supposedely happened to them 40000 years ago when they were the ancestors of the ones now called 'white').

Wisdom and Strength.
