Another bit of information about the KaLanga that you may find interesting.

When the next wave of immigrants from the north swept on to the Zimbabwean plateu, they entered in to dynastic marriages with the Kalanga, taking their daughters as second wives.

That is why today, in my language, the word for a concubine or second wife with full rights ( as opposed to a "mistress") is called a MUKARANGA.

Most of the people who identify themselves as Kalanga/Karanga live in the southwestern part of Zimbabwe and Botswana. They have their own language, but were mostly assimilated in to the Ndebele nation as well.
