Re: Why the inability to fathom absolute truths?

You did not say if you understood what discipleofthenile said. Is he correct or wrong in your view?

You said: "I gues what i have somewhat clumsily trying to say is that the process of discovering the truth, in any form, is a gradual and evolving one, and that we dont so much apprehend the truth as grasp (if we are lucky and dilligent) the latest and most accurate version of it, edging ever closer to some sort of absolute understanding."

* I would not go with the 'luck' part.

You said: "The question, i suppose, is whether this process of getting closer actually has an end point,"

* If one feels it is only about getting closer, that is a good thing. If one feels it has an end, that is good too.

And you said: "or if it is a goal that receedes even as we get closer."

* If people mess up themselves by being arrogant and dishonest then they may never get closer. If you feel it is a goal that recedes, does that mean that people should not do their best, learn and develop? Should they only do what is good if they were promised some reward? (Rhetorical questions) Even if you feel it recedes that does not change the fact that is it better for all of us if people were honest, decent and knowledgeable. If in doing their best they discover more truths and abilities then they should share from that NEW point of view.

You said: "For to my understanding, to REALLY know truth would be, as it were, to have the mind of jah."

* If you really believe that then you should do what it takes to have the mind of Jah (whatever you think that is).

But tell I what you perceive 'Jah' to be and what you mean by having the mind of 'Jah'? People usually throw around these terms as if we are all in agreement with a common meaning. I doubt we all agree on what is 'Jah'. You should try to clarify that and if possible suggest some form of reasonable discipline to prove your interpretation of 'Jah'. Or simply give your meaning, then I will share my meaning.
