Greetings
I look at the story of Noah and the flood as an allegory more so than an actual event.
The flood could be a deluge of wickedness engulfing the land.
The ark could be representative of the ark of the covenant, a holy sanctum and powerhouse for the preservation of all life.
The 'two of every kind' could be symbolic of the dualities of life and their necessity in order for life to exist.
Getting to higher ground could be symbolic of man attaining its higher natures.
As far as there being an actual flood of water, I am not sure. I did see a special on Discovery channel where archeologists tried to claim evidence of the biblical flood, as well as pieces of Noah's Ark.
Peace
