Seen. Moderation is the key.

In my opinion, the greatest good comes from the extremes. This is the Kristos/fullfillment of Ma'at/perfection that stems from the Alpha and the Omega.

Many ancient cultures stressed the value of the middle way.

Taoism
The key is in balance. Neither extreme Yin or extreme Yang are generally very good. In every aspect of life, being between the extremes normally makes for a smoother and less stressful ride. For instance, someone who is highly motivated and always working and rushing is too Yang and will soon burn themselves out. Then again a couch potato who never leaves the TV and doesn't have any goals or ambitions is too Yin and may also suffer bad health and depression. A middle way between these 2 extremes is easier and healthier.

Buddhism
"The middle way discovered by a Perfect One avoids both these extremes; it gives vision, it gives knowledge, and it leads to peace, to direct acquaintance, to discovery, to nirvana. And what is that middle way? It is simply the noble eightfold path, that is to say, right view, right intention; right speech, right action, right livelihood; right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration. That is the middle way discovered by a Perfect One, which gives vision, which gives knowledge, and which leads to peace, to direct acquaintance, to discovery, to nirvana."

The way (middle way) of the Christians is Jesus Christ.

I too think that ones are improperly equating balance with "good" and imbalance with "evil" exclusively.

I personally think that the words "good" and "evil" are moral descriptors and not absolutes.

Therefore, I think it is impossible to define them without using some form of morality judgement.
