" The term "Africa" is also somewhat inauthentic, as it (as far as I'm aware) originally referred to a Roman province in what is now North Africa."
Wrong again. The origin of the NAME Africa has nothing to do with any roman nor was there ever any roman 'province' in Africa. The romans may have claimed to possess a province, but these claim is as valid as that made by a man who takes YOUR property at gunpoint. Would you acknowledge a robbers claim as truth? Or would you recognise it as what it is : a temporary piece of deadly folly based on the use of force.
If as you say, 'Africa' is roman, then show other uses of the word 'Africa' (or 'Africanus') in latin. Show a use that preceeded the establishment of a 'colony' in (or knowledge of) Africa in roman letters. Explain the etymology of the word 'Africa' in latin and show the other words in latin that are related to this NAME.
