Re: Personal Accounts of Polygamous families

A long time ago a friend of mine, from Senegal, asked me if I would marry her husband, so that he can get his papers.

At the time I was dating (reasoning and just getting to know) his brother.

I gave it careful consideration, but I decided against it because it felt like they were really looking for a second wife...and not just help with VISA status.

The husband asked me how do I feel about his brother? Are we getting serious? Would I want to marry the brother in the future?

Then he tells me that if I did go through with the process, that he didn't think it would be a good idea to continue seeing his brother....that's when alarms started sounding inside me.

It just didn't seem like it was presented to be...

It FELT like they were trying to bamboozle me into the family! I mean I'm sure he needed his papers, but the husband just had a certain energy...his spirit told me flee!

ALSO,

The love of my life was raised in a poly household...he and his many brothers wouldn't have it any other way...guess I'm "dumbwashed" as you all call it....Jah know I love the yute, but I found it less principal and moreso lust for him in the end...I couldn't deal with it.

Honest sharing...love & light!
