No one could touch the Ark without permission, yet Azarias did so. That is not stealing. It was part of God's divine plan to bring the Davidic lineage to Ethiopia, the plan to bring forth His Imperial Majesty.
You cannot compare that with the sensless violence, the tyranny and kleptocracy that characterises Mugabe's regime. You cannot compare Mennelik, even when he was founding a new dynasty could trace his lineage to Kush and further to the beginning of time, to Adam to old Bob. Mr Mugabe has always found the subject of his father a touchy one.
Under Mennelik, the people were not forced to vote for his chosen candidates, nor were they beaten up and forced to eat independent newspapers. They were not given no-go areas, guarded by party youths who would demand to see a letter from the party structures in the area you said you were from. They were not locked up on trumped up cards so that their hard earned money could be plundered to pay the debt to IMF. They were not starved, or allowed to die of disease. Mennelik did not send soldiers in to areas where the voices of dissent were loudest to routinely beat up civilians of all ages. Mennelik did not order the Weather Reports to be first examined by his office before going public. Mennelik did not try economic plocy after economic policy, then turn around and invent a bunch of enemies for his failures. Mennelik stuck with a simple economic policy, and preferred it that people glorified God instead of him.
Mennelik new exactly what had been given to him, a precious gift from God and the symbol of his perfect government. Solomon knew its value too, that is why he wept when he saw that it had been taken from him.
No, my friend. As we say, Zvinhu zvacho zvinosiyana.
