Don't be fooled by a couple of casinos here and there, Indian rezzes overall are some of the most poverty-stricken and depressing dumps anywhere on earth.
I don't agree with Q'Yin either saying Amerindians suffered "more"... both Africans and Amerindians have suffered so horribly at the hands of white supremacy that there is no quantifying who has been through "worse". Genocide, slavery, cultural disintegration... both our peoples have felt it.
As for "indians" most American Indians who I know call themselves that which is why I use it, also it is not correct that they were named after the country of India, at the time that country was called Hindustan not India. The Spanish saw the Taino people living peacefully in harmony with nature and declared that they must have god with them... hence "en dios" [in god] which became "indio" which became "Indian". I guess the Spanish catholics must not have been as big fans of "god" as they professed to be, cos the next thing they said was "with fifty men we could make them all our slaves."
This is to the best of my knowledge, someone correct me if I am wrong.
