and i give thanks for a most fascinating post, the many alternative views of history that are presented on this board are a great source for continued reasoning.
Given your views on the nature of patriarchy, i would ask what you think of contemporary family structures. It strikes me that they are imbued with the sort of twisted gender relations that you have outlined, and that what we call a 'family' may well be just another by-product of the male coup detat that accompanied the rise of agricultural and pastoral states.
Are there viable alternatives?
