Re: Failing to understand, they go the other way

"In my personal opinion, a black woman does not have to be a Rastafari for me to vibe with her. As long as she is truly down for the liberation of Afrikans at home and abroad, it doesnt matter...especially if dating a so called white rastawoman is the alternative."

In my area, it would be nice if more Rastafarian brothers thought this way.

Speaking about my area only(or places I have lived/been). The Rastas will not deal with African centered/conscious women unless they are strict Rastafarians. The problem is, a lot of the sisters are into the Kemetic and Aborisha communities, and/or in the liberation/African political movements, don't adhere to the strict Biblical teachings that seem to characterize the teachings of the Rastamen(once again, in the areas I am, and have been). These beleifs often have a heavy paternalistic quality so for the women in the Kemetic ,Aborisha, and African political communitees that is a big turnoff.

In the African centered community wear I live there are probably a good 10 sisters to every brother(population wise). And about 1/2 of those brothas already have a women.

In my, and some of my friends experience...not just with Rastas...but with the conscious community in general...the brothas don't want to date a women who already has knowledge to a certain degree, or is conscious. They would rather deal with a sister who isn't conscious and "transform/teach" or impress her with his... Even though the women will often reject such forward movement and frustrate the brothers.
