No one has so far been able to convince WalMart that without purchasing power nothing is cheap enough. In fact WalMart's business model has now become the business standard.
Customers may prefer spending less for merchandise but if that means they have less to spend they would forego the markdown or do without.
Assuming that anyone but one's self will benefit from personal choices is the height of arrogance, and the notion of "what is good for Paul is good for all" is nothing but a vain hope.
