Re: I love Selassie I but Hate His Words

David King
Are you displeased because I showed that these historians that you mentioned had no first hand knowledge of the existence of 'Jesus'? None were contemporaries of him so they know no more about the existence of 'Jesus' than any one of us knows. You need to stop acting as if it is a fact that 'Jesus' walked the face of the earth. Ones who do think so are relying on belief, whether you want to say so or not.

As far as the utterence of His Majesty, I am not running from anything. I have responded to you numerous times in different posts. Some times I do not respond because you start to sound like a broken record and a parrot. You continuously post quotes as if you cant think for yourself. I really feel sorry for the man who cant think for himself. You act as if words cannot have different meanings to different people. For your satisfaction, I will give my interpretation of this utterence that you gave....even though I know that it wont really satisfy you. I would like you to know that I do not have to agree with every thing Haile Selassie said or did to hold him in great esteem and reverence. I do not agree with everything that Marcus Garvey did or said, nor Malcolm X, nor Nelson Mandela, etc. I do not know everything on the face of the earth and I have had different experiences than these said people and have lived in a different time than these people, therefore, I may see things differently.

"It is for this reason that the Church of Christ, and especially Christian leaders, have such an enormous responsibility. However wise or however mighty a person may be, he is like a ship without a rudder if he is without God. A rudderless ship is at the mercy of the waves and the wind, drifts wherever they take it and if there arises a whirlwind it is smashed against the rocks and becomes as if it has never existed. It is our firm belief that a soul without Christ is bound to meet with no better fate. "

First of all, I sight Christ as a consciousness...a way...a livity. I do not attribute it to be a name. I do agree that if one does not have this consciousness of love, truth, balance, reciprocity , and justice, then one is bound to meet a spiritual/mental death. There is no disagreement with me here.

"Therefore 0! Christians, let us arise and, with the spiritual zeal and earnestness which characterized the Apostles and early Christians, let us labour to lead our brothers and sisters to Our Saviour Jesus, Who only can give life in its fullest sense." (Selassie I) "

Now, in this utterence, Selassie is clearly speaking to a group of Christians by HIM saying, "Therefore O! Christians". So I am not suprised that he mentions the words, "Our Saviour Jesus." I do not think that he was talking to the whole of humanity when he was speaking because it would go against his utterance, "FAITH IS PERSONAL...AND NO ONE CAN DISCERN THE WAYS OF GOD.

If he was speaking to all of humanity, why would he make such a statement? A good speaker will always be conscious of whom he/she is speaking to and will speak in terms that the ones listening can relate and overstand.

Everyone here knows that Ras Tafari Makennon was a Christian...but In my opinion, 'The power of the trinity' excedes religion. Hence making clear the utterance that faith is personal and that no one can discern the ways of God.

This means you and this means myself, and everyone else on the face of the earth as well. So go on with you belief and stop presenting things as if they are fact when there is no evidence other than belief and faith to back these things up. Now it is time for you to listen to the Power of the Trinity and allow each one to see Jah according to the abundance of their hearts.
