Sure you are correct, but I wanted to spell out what I mean by “organize”, and “Africans should come together” or “unite”, instead of these statements coming over like regurgitated clichés that I feel most people do not understand are umbrella statements for a process.

I wanted it on the table that the focus is usually on Africans outside of the continent to embrace Africa, and the necessary reciprocal moves are left out. If Africans on the continent are not learning about the wider Diaspora outside of Africa, then paternalism and missionary tactics remain the only way most can operate. People will attempt to be missionaries when they do not understand the context of other people’s values and culture, and want them to give it up for their idea of another or new way. In the long-term these moves breed resentment, and good intentions can be the source of anguish for many.

I am putting it to Africans on the continent that they too have to learn about Africans in the wider Diaspora so we can build on mutual respect, and not to continue this clash of false ideas of inferior and superior, that disrespects the history/experiences of all sides.

We already do what you are suggesting. Among our developing body there are contractors, doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, website technicians, cooks, sound engineers, gardeners, and more, and we are always working at improving our personal skills so we can also extend to others. The difference with us is that we are values based, and we draw from all over the African Diaspora (past and present) as well as what little good we can extract from this corrupt western system. Without working out the values (the issues that keep most people divided), we would be squabbling, ego tripping and fighting among ourselves, and would lack a clear foundation and direction to build on. People can try organizing any way they feel from where they are.
