Re: The other aspect of Pan-African

Bantu Kelani, what are we supposed to do, climb into our jet fighters and take over the Africa? Don't you think we would do it if we could? Do you think African Americans are sitting around happy, watching tv and never thinking about what happens in Africa? We have some financial clout compared tothose on the Continent, but we are often in the same boat as far as having limited MILITARY POWER. Military power is needed to alleviate the problems on the Continent and unfortunatley greed supercedes the the need for justice and the ultimate triumph of the human spirit. I have friends who go to Africa, who have moved back, who have done work with those suffering with AIDS and other good works. The reality is, there is so much to work on, there is not enough time in our life times to really finish the massive job that needs to be accomplished to liberate African. There must be a unity of spirit, purpose and the ultimate goal. Africans world wide are tired and depressed about their conditions, and many are resigned to the reality of being on the bottom of society because they are black. I feel your anger and your depression, but we have to realize that it is up to us and that we have to take the attitude that Africans can do it. It will not happen overnight, but we have to stop fighting one another when we really all want the same thing. I hope you understand that so many of us do what we can, and yes we can do more. But we need a strong military and this requires African men to be strong and to fight for the liberation, becasue ultimately the strength of the men will secure a future for the COntinent. We get so down and depressed I think we cannot see a way out of the hell we have been under. There has to be a unity of purpose for th COntinent or there will be no real progress. How to do it? I am not sure, but the debate needs to continue until we find answers that work for real.
