Nowhere is the deplorable, disturbing inclination towards self-righteousness and tyranny that is now manifesting on this board better depicted than in the attempts made on it to discredit the EABIC. Similar attempts have been made against other Rastafarian movements.

Granted, the EABIC, like any other Rastafarian people, are not above censure. Nor are their beliefs beyond scrutiny. But this apparently orchestrated attack, this attempt to misinform in order to foster dislike and prejudice that one sees again and again on this board challenges all standards of decency and propriety. It must be noted that- unlike the occultists and other such who appear to be the majority of what then appears to be a misnamed message board- the EABIC are a definitely Rastafarian movement. That they appear different is in itself natural. The Rastafarian movement has no founder, different people around the world were inspired by the Coronation of His Imperial Majesty and set up religious organisations, most of them building on already existing Judaeo-Christian groups. Unlike Christianity, Islam etc, which have split in to so many groups, the different Rastafarian groups arose independently. Harmonisation may occur eventually, but for now, let us appreciate that our differences make us a vibrant, dynamic people. If one does not find comfort in one of the groups, one is free to move on to the next. I remember in Zimbabwe many youths abandoning the strict Nyahbinghi Order in favour of the Twelve Tribes of Israel with its lax attitude towards alcohol and flesh-eating. Some would seek membership to the rather insular Kiddus Maqdas or its different related groups all over the country. I have seen Twelve Tribes become Nyahbinghi as well, and so on.

It is regrettable to conclude that there are some elements on this board who have decided that it is their business to decide for the rest of us who is Rastafarian and who is not. This unfortunate situation is mitigated by the fact that this board is not the official mouthpiece of any of the Rastafarian movements. But those of us who are proud to belong to a wider Rastafarian nation worldwide are perturbed by this dishonourable campaign against one of our own.

His Imperial Majesty showed us the validity of the EABIC when He gave its leader a medal. So, although their teachings, their way of life may seem strange, inimical even to what we know as Rastafari, we should show them respect and give them a place. Some of us have questions about the EABIC, it should be up to the members who participate on this board to answer them without fear of being pre-judged condemned.
