Not Maroons, Coromantees is Your Name, l

Yes indeed, you are right, Africans living in shackles of the European made it an habit of escaping to places, which were under the control of the Maroons and were very welcome, but that was before the Peace Treaty was signed. As a matter of fact those who use to escape from the plantation and go among the Maroons, were very helpful to the Maroons, since they were able to give inside information, about what was taking place on the plantations, and that was helpful in planning during the war. In addition those who escaped and live among the Maroons caused the numbers among the Maroons to increase, and made their army much stronger. It was the dishonest clauses within the Peace Treaty, which had the Maroons cornered and marooned, which forced them to do what they did, in order to survive and to prevent themselves being wiped out by the British.

So I completely blame the Europeans for what the Maroons became, after the signing of this deceptive Peace Treaty which was nothing but a trap, which marooned the Maroons into state of surrender and jion us are be destroyed. It is to be understood, that the Maroons did not survive fighting for many dacade in an open battle or war with the British, they would have been out numbered and be killed long ago, their tactics were to ambush the British and disapear into the bushes and the hills, but still being able to see what the British were doing from their many hiding places. So their ghostlike victories only lasted, because they abushed the British from time to time.

That grievious deception which took place among the Maroons, and which was being called a Peace Treaty, was nothing but another form of slave trading activity, which was able to expand the dirty practice of divide and rule, among African people, which is always put into practice by the Europeans everywhere they go. Imagine you claimed that you are signing a Peace Treaty, but you are demanding that the Maroons should return those Africans who escaped in the pass to the plantation owners. Imagine you are signing a Peace Treaty, but you are asking the Maroons to return any African who in the future should escape from the plantation, if you are having a real Peace Treaty, then you should not be having some Aficans in shackles, while giving some 1500 acres of land to live on their own, there is just no balance here. Imagine you claimed to be signing a Peace Treaty, but two Europeans have to live among the Maroons to learn and see exactly how the Maroons lived, so that this information could be taken back to Europeans and be studied, so that they will know how to deal with the Maroons in the future.

The European are to be completely blamed, for marooning the Maroons into that physical and mental state of mind, in which there was no logical escape, but to chose to join with them are be wiped out. That is a very difficult state for any people to be in, but that is were where the maroons were driven to, and there was just no escape for them. It is very plain that they ended up being a part of the European army, because Major John James with whom the Maroons hunted for run-aways in the bushes, was later transferred and elevated to the rank of Commander of all the Maroons across the Island of Jamaica, which means that the Maroons were now a part of the European's Army.

So these great African people were taken away from Mama Africa, then ended up under Spanish slave trading activities, then came the British and take away Jamaica from Spain, and after many decade of warfare Between the British and these same African people, who are from the Coromantees People of Africa, these people ended up being under the Command of a European Major, and being well known as the Maroons, instead of the Coromantees People. With all that have happened in the past, nothing can be worse than a race of people allowing themselves to be called the Maroons, when indeed they are really the Coramantees People. It is never too late to repiar our community mistakes, and so I think the young people among the Maroons, as well as the old and grown adults, should make an effort to reclaim their name, as the Coromantee People and abondon that name Maroon, since I do not think that there is any tribe in Africa which is called the Maroon I stand corrected if I am wrong.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self determination to African people everywhere.
ONE BLACK LOVE ONE BLACK HEART
Baba Ras Marcus.
