No, actually, the plain and simple fact is that I am more African than you.

You see, being African is more than having an African name. More than wearing a daishiki or beads. More than seeing yourself as fighting a struggle against the West. What happens when the West falls; are you going to lose your purpose in life?

Even if I sank to your level of criteria for Africanness, I would still score higher than you. My arrogance is from the fact that I can substantiate my claims, whereas you are just arrogant like most Americans are.

You could not understand what I mean when I say I am more African. You would have to experience it, to be born in a certain family, given a certain name, title.

Have all these old women crow around you, giving you bits of your illustrious history along with treats- roast maize ( corn as you Yanks call it. Chibahwe in my language), roast nuts ( matere) etc. Have your grandfather listen to you as you explain your world, helping you to decide what you should take from his. ( I have noticed that a lot of Black Americans have problems with recognising that Africa is on the move)
