Re: The True Cause of The Early Rastafari Movement

As far as I can remember, in the early days, there were various people within the Rastafari Universe, who was given there various assignment, to carry out there work and mission, for the redemption of African people everywhere. There are so many people whom I have seen and known, who have play the part which were given to them as there mission, and when there part and there mission was acomplished, they made the great transition, to make way for others to take the baton of the struggle, and keep on going.

I was very fortunate, to be around in those early ages, and was able to see and know, some of the great people, who have made great sacrifices, to build many bridges for Africans liberation, bridges upon which so many people are walking today, all over the world, and shouting for Jah Rastafari, as well as African for Africa those at home and those abroad.

You are trying to give me a very difficult job, which is to make comparison, as it relates to who was greater than who, among the African patriots whom I knew, and met in the very early days. I have met and seen so many African patriots in those days, and each of them was great, in the assignments and missions, which they were given to be carried out, by our great internal teacher, so I think, that it is a very useless idea, to make anyone greater than the other.

Anyone who truly know about the teachings and ways of life, of our Rastafari people, will know that there is really no individual, within the movement, who was looked upon as a leader, except Ras Tafari Makenon. This is a well known and established fact. So we can speak about the great works of Paul Bogle, Samuel Sharpe, George William Gordon, Tacky and Nat Turner, but they were only part of the early struggles of the Rastafari movement which is Africa for Africans, those at home and those abroad.

Then we can speak of Leonard Howell, Brother Dunckly, Brother Hinds, Brother Lover, Joseph Hibbert, Father Gooden, Brother Buckley, Cecil Gordon, Mr McClean, Brother Skipper, Brother Nepair, Count Ossie, Ras Shedrack, Ras Mesheck, Ras Abendego, Martimor Planner, Ras Sam Brown, Ras John, Bongo Slim, Ras Titus, Bongo Herman, Ras Black Heart, Ras Ken Fraser, Bongo Eric, Ras Granville, Bongo Johnny, Bongo Lindon, Bongo Jack, Bongo Honey, Bongo Ossie, and so many more they were all there as a part of the liberation struggle for African people, so it is quite hard for me to say who was greater than the other, each person was great in the assignment which they were given to do, and there is really no need for any comparison.

As for Prince Emanuel Edward, he created his own religion, which was quite different, from the original Rastafari movement, and he had is followers who were willing to following him, so he led them until the day when he made that great transition. He is to be complemented, for helping his followers, to create that broom industry, which was established After the convention in 1958, and I do think that it is still in progress at least I do hope so. I do remember when they got that little black pick up truck, while they were still at Akee Walk.

As far as being able to lead a group of people, until he made the transition, we can say that he did, what he was given to do, Since there were people who were willing to be led. As far as I am concerned, brother Edie or Prince Emanuel, was just a brother, like any of the other brothers who names I named above, they all think that Africa is for the Africans, Those at home and those abroad, and they made sacrifices in their lives, and carry on the struggle for the cause, until there days were numbered. I may say some more on this if the reasoning prolong.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self determination for African people everywhere.
ONE BLACK LOVE ONE BLACK HEART
Baba Ras Marcus.
