EBER =hebre(w)- descended from the biblical shem or shemite. hebrews and hyksos are synonomous for both are semites.
* It is interesting to note the term SHASU which is used by the Egyptians to identify these shepards. SHASU I am informed can be interpreted as "to wander." While we tend to group people together ETHNICALLY, it is possible that SHASU is referring not to an ETHNICITY of people, but perhaps a WAY OF LIFE(wanderers). It is apparent that some of these SHASU were allowed to live peacefully within Egypt while the marauding invaders were repelled. With this in mind, it is hard to group all of the Shasu together.
why does merenptah and massey differ on definitions of israel?
* Massey is speaking of the idea of the Israelites(Children of RA - not an ethnic group) being an original African idea. Merenptah is speaking of a group of actual physical people who were repelled.
