That is an interesting perspective. With that response, I can see too how the story could be about a test of wisdom between 2 very wise people. In this story, Solomon was obviously one step ahead of the game - thus proving his wisdom to be superior. If the God of Israel represents the Most High beyond all forms of idol worship, then indeed one will not be trapped by forms and thus the wisdom will be of higher type.
That is my reasoning on this matter.
